ZAKK WYLDE & CHARLIE BENANTE Join PANTERA For 2023 Reunion Tour.
Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante have joined the reunited Pantera for their coming 2023 tour. According to Billboard (and Blabbermouth), the tour and addition of both Wylde and Benante have been greenlit by the estates of Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul. This is especially interesting given that Brown said last night that Wylde will not be a part of things, despite his comments over the years that he'd love to do it.
The inclusion of Wylde is ultimately not shocking – Wylde has made it very well known over the years that he'd love to join the band should they ever reunite. Wylde said in a 2019 interview that he felt he wouldn't be replacing Dimebag if a reunion happened, but instead celebrating his music. "When Saint Vinnie [late Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who died in June 2018] was still around, they were talking about it then. I mean, the way I always looked at it is it's a Pantera celebration and an honor. I mean, every night I'm playing with Ozz, we honor Saint Rhoads [late Ozzy guitarist Randy Rhoads]. I'm playing the Randy stuff every night, and I'm blessed and it's an honor to do it. Basically, we're paying tribute to Randy every night — keeping his music alive."
The Pantera reunion tour was announced last night. Vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown have officially signed with Artist Group International for a Pantera tour happening sometime in 2023, though no specific dates or timeframes have been announced.

David Zablidowsky, better known as “David Z.” tragically died in a roadside accident on July 14, 2017 while on tour with Adrenaline Mob.
Before joining Adrenaline Mob, David had been the bass player of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Along with his brother Paulie Z, the two had been a part of the band ZO2 and starred in their own TV series “Z Rock” on the IFC network.
David Zablidowsky was active in developing young people through music. To continue his legacy, the David Z Foundation was founded to offer education and financial need to young aspiring musicians.
The David Z Foundation is a non-profit organization created in memory of David Zablidowsky and dedicated to transforming lives through the magic of music. Our goal is to nurture that creative musical spark that a child has and help turn it into a sustainable reality. We are currently running our original music programming nationwide, including private instruction, rock band, songwriting, production, and music business. In addition, we prepare kids for the music world by pairing them up with professionals in the field and showcasing their creativity through the various events we produce. Our focus is on providing these services to low-income families and high-risk children while subsidizing the financial costs that come with it. We also offer scholarships through partnerships with music schools such as School Of Rock, Brooklyn College, and various other local organizations around the country.

MIKE TRAMP - New Album For Første Gang To Be Released In September.
For the first time in Mike Tramp's career, he will release a full set of songs sung entirely in Danish. For Første Gang will be released on digital, LP (black and crystal vinyls, each limited to 500 units) via Target Records on September 2nd, 2022. All pre-ordered CDs and LPs through Targetshop will be signed by Mike Tramp. Pre-orders are available now at this location. Mike Tramp in his own words: "There was no plan to do it, not on paper not on a wish list, maybe just when someone asked, 'Will you ever do an album in Danish?' I would answer, 'Yeah, maybe one day.' Not giving it more thought, until that day suddenly unexpected came around. One of my best friends who knows all about my life, and also happens to be the author of my biography Vagabond, Lars Daneskov, one day sent me the lyrics to one song. I had never in my entire career sung other peoples lyrics or written music to lyrics, so this would now be the first time." "As I read the lyrics, which was as close to something I would have written myself if I had been fluent and comfortable in my mother tongue. It opened a door to another room or another world I had never been in before. I was drawn to explore this journey which would for always be a For The First time, now also the title of the album. For it to be completely different and separate from anything I had ever done. I started composing the music and the melodies exclusively on piano and it allowed me to go to musical places I had not been at before, as lyrics to song by song was sent to me. This album and journey had to stand on it’s own and not be compared, not even in the slightest form to what Mike Tramp had done before." "I was not thinking about an audience, I wasn’t thinking about how it would end up. I just followed something natural, almost a reservoir of things I had kept for this day, melodies and styles that would never had fitted my rock career, my rock’n’roll life. But this is as much Mike Tramp as White Lion, Freak Of Nature ever was. It might just be this one and only time I climb this mountain. The songs are about the place I come from, how I grew up and how the world was back then. It is my story, but unfortunately for my international fans, it can’t be translated to English and have the same meaning as when I sing the words of my mother or the sound of the streets I grew up on. With all that being said. I would still imagine some fans finding this album interesting, I personally considered some of my finest songwriting." |

Ozzy Osbourne announced his new album Patient Number 9 last week alongside a stream of the title track. Patient Number 9 features a lineup of guitarist and producer Andrew Watt, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and bassists Robert Trujillo of Metallica, Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, and Chris Chaney of Jane's Addiction. The album also features guest appearances from guitarists Jeff Beck, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, and Eric Clapton.
On Iommi's appearance, Ozzy said "It was really great working with Tony. He's the riff master. No one can touch him in that respect. I only wish we had these songs for Black Sabbath's 13 album." All we're saying is that given this sentiment, maybe Ozzy and Iommi could get together and do one last Black Sabbath record? Perhaps with Bill Ward on drums? Ozzy also talked a little bit about Wylde's appearance, adding "Zakk is part of my family and always will be. The album needed that weight that his playing provides. He just came in and really sorted things out."
On Patient Number 9, Ozzy said writing and recording the record took his mind off how rough things have been lately (which I'm sure included his recent surgery).
"Well, I was vaccinated and boosted and I still caught COVID in the end. My last album [Ordinary Man] was released just a few weeks before the pandemic started, and I was just about getting ready to go into the studio to work on this new one when the world shut down. It's no secret that the last four years have been very difficult for me but making this album took my mind off of my problems."
